Drugs for external application

These drugs have the actions of making the hair moist, clean, fragrant, dense and black, preventing and curing baldness.

Washing Method with the Pig's Bile One pig's gallbladder. Take out the bile and pour it into water, or soak the gallbladder in the frankincense oil for more than seven days. Wash the hair with the water. When the hair is dry, apply a proper quantity of the pig's bile and the frankincense oil on the hair. This method has the actions of clearing away heat, expelling wind, making the hair moist and lustrous.

Hair-Aromatizing Powder 30 g of Linglingxiang (Herba Lysimachiae Foenigraeci), 15 g of Xinyi (Flos Magnoliae), 15 g of Meiguihua ( Figs Rosae Rugosae), 18 g of Tanxiang (Lignum Santali), 12 g of Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei ) , 12g of Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae ), 12 g of Mudanpi ( Cortex Moutan Radicis ), 9 g of Shannai (Rhizoma Kaempferiae), 9 g of Dingxiang (Flos Caryophylli), 9 g of Xixin (Herba Asari), 9 g of storax oil and 9 g of Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae). Grind all the ingredients except storax oil into fine powder. Then, mix the powder with the storax oil evenly and dry it in the shade. Apply the powder on the hair and comb the hair with a double-edged fine-toothed comb. The prescription has the action of making the hair clean and fragrant. The prolonged application can make the exfoliated hair grow again and people free from grey hair for a lifetime.
Baldness-Preventing Prescription Three Chinese torreyanuts, two walnuts and 30 g of Cebaiye (Cacumen Biotae ). Pound the ingredients to paste. Then, soak the paste in snow water. Wash the hair with the liquid. The prescription has the actions of preventing baldness, making the hair black and moist. It is especially very effective for baldness due to blood heat.

Drugs for oral administration

These drugs promote qi flow and blood circulation to make the hair healthy. Such commonly-used drugs are numerous like Huma ( Semen Sesami ), Youcaizi ( rapeseed), Liuhua ( Flos Granati ), Hetao ( Semen Juglandis ), Yezijiang ( Succus Cocois Endospermatis ), Mihoutao (Fructus Actinidiae Chinensis), Huaishi ( Flos Sophorae Immaturus ) , Sangshenzi (Fructus Mori ) and Heidadou ( Semen Sojae Nigrum). The prescriptions are as follows.
Guazi (Semen Benincasae) Powder 60g of Guazi ( Semen Benincasae), Baizhi (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae ) , Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis ) , Chuanxiong ( Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong) and Zhigancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Praeparata) respectively. Grind the ingredients into powder. Take the powder with the wine three times a day, I g or so each time. Regular administration of the powder promotes blood circulation, tonifies blood, nourishes the hair, makes the skin lustrous, prevents ageing and premature grey hair.

Besides, some Chinese patent medicines like Qibao Meiran Pill (Seven-Ingredient Beard-Beautifying Pill) and Shouwu Yanshou Pill (Life-Prolonging Pill with Radix Polygoni Multiflori ) can strengthen the tendons and bones, consolidate essence and qi, make the beard and hair black. These medicines may be selected, too.

Finally, people should remain a cheerful frame of mind, avoid extreme emotional stimulation, actively participate in the physical training, prevent and cure general diseases, abstain from bad habits such as smoking, excessive drinking and craputence. All these points should be taken into account in the hair beautification.
