Amenorrhea

Point:

Shangliao--UB 31

Puncture:

With a 1.5 cun needle, puncture perpendicularly in the sacral foramen.

Technique:

Try to identify the period of menstruation or choose a date when the woman feels "uncomfortable" or possibly "moody." The patient stands with her legs slightly apart and elbows resting on the table to allow her pubis and lower abdomen to be free from any compression.

Prior to the insertion of the needle, the practitio-ner should press the patient's abdomen 5 to 8 times with the fist, pushing slowly and releasing rapidly, to stimulate the uterus.

Insert the needle up to 1 cun into the point and twist the needle clockwise as far as possible.

Keep the needle that way until a contraction is felt in the uterus. Perform the technique 3 times without removing the needle.

Both points should be stimulated.

Note:

The treatment should be repeated 25 days after the menstruation.
