Point:

Chengshan -- UB 57

Puncture:

With a 2 cun needle, puncture perpendicularly to the skin.

Technique:

With the patient lying face downward, insert the needle up to 1.5 cun deep.

Rotate the needle at a very fast frequency of 300 to 350 times per minute to induce soreness, numbness and distention radiating to the popliteal fossa, lower leg and foot.

Retain the needle for 30 minutes, manipulating every 5 minutes.
