Point:
Point Ashi
Particularity:
It is essential to locate and mark exactly the Ashi point on the affected tendon prior to insertion of the needle.
Puncture:
Use a 1 or 1.5 cun thick needle.
Technique:
Before inserting the needle, hold the tendon on both sides, so that it cannot move.
Insert a 1.5 cun needle at the Ashi point slowly towards the muscle.
The patient should feel a radiating pain. Thrust and lift the needle for about 1 minute. Then change the angle of penetration and thrust, and lift again as if intending to punish the tendon.
After about 2 or 3 penetrations at different angles, retain the needle for about 30 minutes.
