TCM Treatment Lumbago

Lumbago is a general term used to describe pain in the lumbar region, or lower back. The pain involved can range from very mild to severe. It is defined as a mild to severe pain or discomfort in the area of the lower back. Ranging in severity from acute (i.e. sudden and severe) to chronic (if it has lasted for more than three months) lumbago can occur in any age group, but is common among younger people who engage in hard physical work and also among people of retirement age.

2.What causes lumbago?

In the majority of cases, it is impossible to identify the exact cause of backache. In about 25 per cent of cases, however,
it is possible to identify the cause. Often, it is thought that the most common cause of low back pain is muscle strain or another soft tissue problem. Other common causes of lumbago include spinal disc herniation, a degenerated disc, or other disc problems. Weak anterolateral abdominal muscles and weak back muscles increase the stress on the spinal column and contribute to low back pain.what's more, there are many things that cause low back pain or lumbago.

Listed below are some of the more
common conditions, or diagnostic terms:

Herniated Disc (sometimes called a slipped disc)
Osteoarthritis or Spondylosis (spinal arthritis)
Osteoporosis (brittle bone disease, spinal fracture)
Rheumatoid Arthritis (progressive, sometimes destructive arthritis)
Scoliosis (abnormal curvature of the spine to the left or right)
Spinal Stenosis (compression of the spinal nerves)
Spinal Tumor (benign or malignant/cancer)
