III. The Bone
The function of the bone is manifested in two aspects. One is to store the marrow. Thus Chapter 17 in the Plain Questions states : "The bone cavity is the house of marrow. "The marrow functions in nourishing the bones. Therefore, the growth and development of the bones ,and the solid or fragile skeleton is related to the prosperity or insufficiency of the marrow. The second function of the bone is to support the human body, and protect the internal organs. The bone is characterized by firmness and tenaciousness, and these form the structure of the body,so that the human body remains in a certain posture. Disorders of the bone may affect movement and posture, resulting in goose step, lack of endurance ,etc. The tough and tensile bones can also protect the internal organs to avoid injury due to external force.
