On Nov.12, 2008 we have received a medical science representative of Stanford University, Christos Constantinou and his wife, Janet Constantinou, who visit Guilin and attend academic exchange tour. From 12 to 17, they stay Guilin for six days, three days for academic exchange and three days for travel.

His speciality:
Chris Constantinou is currently dedicated to the development of technologies for the evaluation of female pelvic floor function as it related to urinary incontinence. This work, funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering of NIH, is targeted towards the development of novel biosensor technologies for clinical use. These activities are part of his more general orientation towards Biomedical Engineering, involving Imaging and use Virtual Reality, Robotics and tissue characterization.

And his wife Janet Constantinou is a PhD in neuro-behavioural development and evaluation of premature infants.

The theme of academic and research symposium:
Sino-western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine have urinary incontinence, pain of pelvis and functional disturbance therapy methods and experience. In clinic, we have reach cooperation on this research issue, meanwhile, they have visited our hospital and traditional Chinese medicine laboratory.

The specific exchange course:
The first day morning: Mr Quan generally introduces our center, including history of our center, recommendation of traditional Chinese physician; at the same time, they are enjoyed Taiji performance. They are very interested in Taiji, they also follow steps to study Taiji.

During the three days of academic exchanges, we have exchanged TCM theory, known the basic knowledge of TCM theory, which is TCM fundament of treating diseases. Then we exchange how to treat pain of pelvis, urinary incontinence, prostate and functional disturbance and share our center’s researches and treating disease breakthroughs of sino-western medicine.

Expert abundantly, vividly and humorously multimedia teaching has strong exchange atmosphere. Every lesson is excellent and it shocks them as well.

Then, we have demonstrated acupuncture, cupping, Qigong and such as naturopathy, they realize miraculous function of naturopathy through enjoying foot massage and Tuina.

The last day morning, we and the customers visit JiQi Research Center and Post-Doctoral Workstation. We also exchange with the lead and the relevant staff. Customers highly evaluate our Research Center and Post-Doctoral Workstation.

When refer to cooperation issue, the customer said they would like to cooperate with us. They will organize students and professions of Stanford University come to our center to study and exchange. Except exchange related medical science, they hope they would learn more about traditional Chinese medicine knowledge and hope to participate in interactive study and exchange!

Our center’s director, Mr Huang mentioned that our center would like to cooperate with them. We arrange satisfactory lessons and offer quality services for our customers, according to their requirements.

After finish the exchanges, we also arrange tour travel for customers to enjoy and experience the beautiful scenery of Guilin! Guilin has the best scenery of the world!
