He stood there without crying and noise, his wit became dull, if called and teased, there was no response from him. He sit there quietly  and  apathetically  or  he  was  lethargic.  Then  his grandmother led him to the local hospital for treatment, the illness was diagnosed as "Common Cold" and "Sunstroke," the boy was treated by intravenous dripping antibiotic. After 1 week of the above treatment, there was no effect on him, the boy became more and more absent minded. Then they came to our hospital for treatment on September 10,1996.

Physical Examination:  The patient was lethargic with a normal general condition. The face was dark yellow and blue in colour. The superficial venule of index finger was dark blue too. If called and teased, there was no response from him. There wasn't other abnormal sign.

Diagnosis: Infantile Neurosis.

Differentiation: This diease, in TCM, is called "ManPiFeng"

(chronic splenic wind-syndrome). It was caused by deficiency of spleen-Yang and attack of exogenous pathogenic summer heat dampness or being frightened by something, which caused the spirit couldn't be supported normally and the mind couldn't be effectively governed by spleen. So that the patient became absent-minded and dull witted.

Therapeutic Principle: Invigorating spleen-Yang and dispersing liver-wind, eliminting damp phlegm and removing obstruction in the channels, wakening spirit and restoring consciousness.
