Colds are virus-infected diseases in the upper respiratory tract and classified as common cold and influenza. Common cold, usually mild, results from rhinovirus infection and is characterized mainly by nasal symptoms. With a high morbidity and repeated infection tendency, common cold may occur all the year round but mostly in winter and spring. But influenza, usually widespread, is due to influenza virus infection and has pronounced systemic toxic symptoms.

 

 

Wind-cold Type

 

 

Press-knead Yintang, Taiyang and Yingxiang, wipe the forehead. Grasp-press Hegu and Waiguan until sweating are gained. Then grasp Fengchi and Jianjing with heavy force and press-knead Zhongfu, Fengmen, Fengchi and Feishu orderly, 1-2 minutes each point. Later, press-knead the upper back for 1-2 minutes and grasp the lung meridian on hand-taiyin and the large intestine on hand-yangming 1-2 times.

 

 

Heat Formation Type

 

 

Press-knead Yintang, Taiyang and Yingxiang, wipe the forehead. Grasp-knead from the shoulder along the large intestine on hand-yangming and the lung meridian on hand-taiyin to the finger end 1-2 times. Mainly press-knead Quchi, Chize, Waiguan, Hegu and Yuji and grasp-knead Fengchi. Then press-knead focus on Zhongfu, Tiantu and Tanzhong and grasp-knead Jianjing. Massage the upper back for 1-2 minutes and digital-press Dazhui and Feishu, 1-2 minutes each. Lap from the upper back to the shoulder for 5 times and along the governor vessel and bladder meridians to lap from the upper back to waist for 5 times.
