Epilepsy, a pediatric disease commonly-encountered in clinic, is the paroxysmal, sudden and temporary disturbance of the brain due to abnormal and excessive electric discharge of cerebral nerves, which is a syndrome of cerebral dysfunction caused by many factors. Epilepsy is divided into two major types of generalized seizure and partial seizure according to the clinical manifestations and features of corresponding electroencephalograms. The former refers to excessive discharge of neuron originating from a local part of brain, clinical onset and abnormal electroencephalogram both appearing locally; the latter refers to excessive discharge of neuron involving bilateral cerebral hemispheres instantly at the beginning, onset with disorder of consciousness, bilateral abnormality of EEG and bilateral clonic convulsion of muscles.
