

Section 8 Pinching
Pinching means to pinch the skin over certain regions or meridians and acupoints, holding the skin up and rotating it. In performance, the technique should be coordinated, rhythmical and with gradually increasing pressure. The strength is concentrated on the tip of the fingers, and can be applied to the head, face, neck, shoulder, waist and back. It is effective in dredging meridians, promoting qi flow and activating blood as well as relieving spasms and pain (see Fig. 8).
Section 9 Pressing-Kneading
Pressing-kneading technique means to press and knead certain regions, meridians and acupoints with fingers of one hand or of both hands or with palms (see Fig. 9).
Section 10 Rubbing-Stroking
Rubbing-stroking means to rub and stroke certain regions, meridians and acupoints with palm or palms or fingers (see Fig. 10).
Section 11 Kneading-Pinching
Kneading-pinching means to pinch, with rotating movement, certain regions, meridians and acupoints with one thumb or the rest four fingers of the hand. (see Fig. 11).
